    Human Remains

"Human Remains" is the first comic book in Clive Barker's Tapping the Vein series from 1989.  This comic book is a queer horror masterpiece, and I am very excited to read the rest of the series.  Fortunately, this comic book is now available as a free download from wowio.

This comic book brings together a number of key gothic elements from the queer horror genre.  In particular, its use of doubles (doppelgangers) and motifs related to art and beauty hearkens back to both Wilde's The Picture of Dorian Gray and a number of stories by Poe.  Beautifully drawn and frequently in his underwear or nude, the protagnonist is a Dorian-esque hustler who encounters a bizarre doppelganger in the form of an animated Roman statue.

Download this brilliant work of queer horror from wowio (and it's free)!
