Pigeons From Hell
Sunday, April 27, 2008 at 12:02PM I just picked up the first issue of Pigeons from Hell from Darkhorse. I completely love it. The art has this weird cartoony look to the characters, but the rest of the world is super-gothic and dark. Dead pigeons everywhere! Yuck. A really strange story. I was really creeped out by the first issue. I think this is going to be good. Also contains a great piece by the writer Joe Lansdale, who explains the history of the story, which is a short story from Robert E. Howard. I only recently found out that he did more than Conan. It sounds like he was a really excellent horror writer.

Also, Pigeons From Hell was adapted into a somewhat faithful TV episode of Thriller in 1961. Definitely worth watching AFTER you've finished the comic book series or read the original story: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0723089/
