Welcome to May
Sunday, May 3, 2009 at 11:42AM May is off to an awesome start. I'm really excited that Queer Mojo Press will be publishing my book of poetry, The Pop-Up Book of Death. The press has a fascinating selection of titles (right now I am reading Madder Love: Queer Men in the Precincts of Surrealism, which is disturbing and a wonderful inspiration to my writing), and I am really proud to be on their forthcoming lineup.
I am also writing lots of horror poetry, and I am really excited about the directions the poetry is taking me.
A few weeks ago marked the third anniversary of Unspeakable Horror. This morning, I was reflecting on the fact that it all started with a blog about gay themes in the horror genre. A few months after that, I met Vince Liaguno through the website when he was promoting The Literary Six. And now, three years later, I have this amazing collaboration with Vince Liaguno (founder of Dark Scribe Press), and we have an anthology of queer horror fiction that is nominated for a Stoker Award. That is really awesome progress!
I took a little hiatus from blogging for the last month or so because I was super-busy with my new job and a series of personal dramas. Fortunately, May looks to be a new month with great opportunities and beautiful weather here in my new home in Portland, Oregon. Spring is gorgeous here.
I started watching Harper's Island on the CBS website last night. I watched three back-to-back episodes. I am totally hooked and I love it.
