Gay Horror Recs: The Shining

Here's my new Gay Horror Recommendation: The Shining.

What's so gay about The Shining?

Roger the dogman, of course!

About five years ago, I wrote an analysis of the subplot from The Shining that involves Derwent, Roger the dogman, and Danny. This analysis is by far the most read thing I've ever written. I receive hundreds of unique visitors a week to this one posting.

I think the reason for all of this fascination with Roger the dogman is due to the appearance of the dogman and Derwent in Kubrick's film version of The Shining (by the way, some people argue it is a bear costume in the film, but it's definitely a dog costume in the book).

Read my analysis: The Shining's Dogman.

If you're a fan of The Shining film, I urge you to read the book, which is one of King's masterpieces. You can pick up a copy here on my Gay Horror Recommendations page.

Actually, that one really looks like a bear costume to me. So gay.
